Abstract

Student honor codes have been the interest of much prior research; however there appears to be no research on a student-developed student code of conduct and a faculty code of conduct. Students are at the core of education and understanding their wants, desires, and needs is essential to the success of an academic institution. Working in small groups, business students were asked to develop a student code of conduct. On a separate occasion they were asked to do the same for a faculty code of conduct. This paper analyzes the findings of this study by looking at what students perceived as important for both student and faculty codes of conduct. Future work in this area is important, as the results of these studies will let us begin to understand the mindset of the students we daily serve in our educational settings.
